Spelling: Duelist (American) or Duellist (English)

Yeah I've always spelled it duellist with two "L"s...same with other words like "traveller." I'm not sure why I prefer the British spelling. I go back and forth on "gray/grey" but usually I spell it with "a".

Give me some credit for checking the spelling, poopyheads! emot-tongue

I went with Duellist because it looks better and also it makes me think of classy panty-soaker British accents. Raaaaawr.

Akio, you have nice turns of phrase, but your points aren't clear and you have no textual support. I can't give this a passing grade.

I tend to go with the British spelling most of the time even if the word ends up a bit longer cos it looks better usually but I sometimes use the American spelling for the same reason eg: I prefer the American spelling of the word jail over the British gaol

BTW: its great to see the new titles emot-keke

Awesome weapon there Tamago.

And Gio, I like the English spelling, because I like the letter "L." My favorite episodes of Sesame Street when I was a kid always featured the letter "L."

I liked the letter "N" emot-smile  But... the one-L version of "duelist" is so pretty!  The single L right in the middle stands out like a sword, and the brevity of the word as a whole makes it look streamlined and dangerous.  "Duellist" looks clunky, like it's an middle-aged British gentleman who belongs to the Royal Society of Duellists and duels for sport instead of for what he believes in.

...Yes, I am weird.  But I kid not!

It is a pretty cool weapon.

The Urumi is a traditional Indian sword with a flexible band of steel measuring about 6 foot in length and up to 2 inches wide.  It is flexible like a whip and can be worn around the waist like a belt.

satyreyes, I'm glad you're weird. Makes me confident that I'm in good company.

So is the Urumi more of a sword or a whip? Something tells me it's not like Ivy's weapon from Soul Calibur.

it would be a bit like the 'cat of nine tails' kind of whip but some versions are stiffer so they can be used a bit like swords

Yes, I'm obnoxious. No, I don't care.

And a sword that works like a cat is definitely worth looking into.

The scary thing about IFD is that one of these days, someone will post a picture of George 'Dubya' Bush Bukkake and that worries me for some reason.
