Tech Questions

Anyone know how to separate audio from video to make a separate file? I've been trying to figure it out for a few hours, but nothing seems to work. Google sometimes gives piss-poor results for queries, geez.

Re: Tech Questions

Yes, but it's really complicated. Are you ripping the video from a DVD?

Re: Tech Questions

No, I'm just trying to rip some audio from an .avi file.

Re: Tech Questions

That's easy, then. You just need a program. Here's an example-- http://www.download.com/Super-Video-to- … ag=lst-0-2

That one's a seven-day trial before you have to pay for it, but there should be a few free ones out there. Look on download.com. emot-keke

(Another thing that I do is I just play the audio and record it--you don't need a mic or anything, just a free recording program like WavePad or whatever. You open the file, open the program, press "record" in the program, [& if you do have a mic, make sure it's off] then play the file. Works like a charm.)

Re: Tech Questions

Oh, good, already an .avi. Yes, what Nessy said. I use Audacity, it's free and stable.

Re: Tech Questions

You can also use VirtualDUB to rip the full length wav and then slice it up in something else. VirtualDUB is free. emot-wink

Akio, you have nice turns of phrase, but your points aren't clear and you have no textual support. I can't give this a passing grade.

Think I did it for you guys? etc-wankgirl

Edit: The one of him and Touga yapping ends up on most of the CDs I burn for my car. I always put it at the end and totally forget it's there until I hit it and soak my panties at 90 mph on the Turnpike. Good times.

Re: Tech Questions

I use moviemaker and then i pass the audio file to Nero Wave editor, and it transforms it into MP3 emot-keke

It's usefull for cut audio files for ringtones, and for separating audios, too.

Re: Tech Questions

I once again must ask you, oh wise tech forumites, a question of computer... uh... ness.

Anyway, I'm trying to figure out how to rip audio files from a DVD - or, alternately, how to record sound within the computer - y'know, like if I'm playing a sound file on the computer, I can then record in the computer, sans microphone ('cause that makes it sound wicked bad). Wow, did that make any sense?

Anyway, reason I'm asking is I got a DVD with a CD I got, and it contains bonus tracks, but there is no discernible way to extract said bonus tracks from the DVD - and they're good songs, so I'm wicked annoyed! Is it possible to get these files?

Download Audacity, it's free from download.com or you can Google it. As you are playing the DVD (with WinDVD or whatever), just hit record in Audacity. It will record whatever is playing in .wav format, then you can convert it to mp3 (command is under File, Export as MP3).
