Re: Sharing articles

The phrase you're looking for is consenting adults.  Or, consenting teenagers.  Lots of people don't believe they exist, though. emot-rolleyes Never mind, I guess there is no easy way to say what you were trying to say, but we know what you mean.

Slippery slope is fail. It's like saying we should ban dirty looks because they may or may not lead to violence.  There's a distinct concent line between gay marriage and child molestation that those people choose to ignore in hopes that others aren't clever enough to catch them.

Re: Sharing articles

What the hell possesses someone to shoot FIVE dolphins?!  This upsets me for multiple reasons:

1. They shot five dolphins.
2. I happen to love dolphins, and I also love the fact that Tyra Banks is terrified of them.
3. What did the dolphins ever do to this person?
4. And this is probably the most controversial: Don't kill an animal that you're not going to use.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm ever gonna make it home again.

Re: Sharing articles

Well, the most likely motivation was that dolphins eat fish.  Well yeah, obviously dolphins eat fish, but possibly dolphins ate some of this guys fish that he was planning on eating, selling, whatever.  Pretty disgusting.

I wonder why Tyra Banks would be afraid of dolphins?  Perhaps because they've been known to at least try to have sex with humans?  I admit that's a little freaky, maybe a lot freaky, but they aren't mean or anything.  They don't hurt people, as far as I know, and have even been known to save people from drowning.

I'd eat panda, but I don't think I'd eat dolphin.

Dolphin rape... I don't think that's going to happen for a long time for Tyra...

Speaking of article, friend of mine shared this... A guy couldn't pass high school exam 38 times already... Man... Staying in high school for 38 years, can you believe that?

Re: Sharing articles

This is my contribution. A snippet from Spin magazine, which I just bought because Marilyn Manson was on the cover. Interesting interview:

SPIN interview wrote:

We start to talk, and Manson is sniffling a little. Right away, he starts to tell me about the breakup of his marriage to burlesque queen Dita Von Teese. They were together for six years and then, in their seventh year, they got married. "It's the old cliché`," he says. "Marriage changes everything."

The behavior he had manifested for the first six years - such as living like a vampire - became unacceptable to Von Teese, he says. But he wasn't willing to give up his vampire's hours. "I'm my most creative between 3 and 5 am," he says. "That's the way I've always been."

Going to sleep at dawn and rising at dusk was not the only issue of contention, though. Before they were wed, Manson and Von Teese were never separated for more than five days; after they got married, he wasn't seeing her for three out of every four weeks, due to her own hectic schedule. Manson is very needy, and with Von Teese on the road all the time, he started loosing his mind. And he started believing her when she said that the way he lived was wrong.

"But then I realized that what's wrong about me is right," he says. "To play devil's advocate-but that doesn't really work, since I'm the devil-people would say that drugs and alcohol wrecked my marriage. But buyer beware. She said she had tolerated the lifestyle because she hoped I would change and threatened to leave if I didn't. I was sleeping on the couch in my own home. I was no longer supposed to be a rock star. I was someone who had to be apologized for. I wasn't prepared to be alone. I came out of this naked, a featherless bird. I needed to get my wings back to make this record."

While his marriage was disintegrating, Manson met then-19-year-old actress Evan Rachel Wood at a party, and a platonic friendship developed. He began to talk to her about appearing in a film he'd written, Phantasmagoria - The Visions of Lewis Carroll, concerning the author of Alice in Wonderland.

At one of their early meetings about the project, Wood wore heart-shaped glasses and looked like the movie poster from Stanley Kubrick's Lolita. Seeing her in the glasses, Manson has what the French would call a coup de foudre-his heart was pierced. It turned out that Wood, like Manson, is a huge Nabokov fan and had worn the glasses on purpose, to acknowledge and ironically wink at the subtext of everything going on-Carroll's long-rumored young-girl fetish, not to mention the 19-year age difference between Manson and herself. (Manson a great believer in connections and coincidences, points out that Nabokov translated Alice in Wonderland into Russian)

While Manson separated from Von Teese, his friendship with Wood eventually turned erotic. One day the actress was licking a heart-shaped lollipop, and then she kissed him. He told her she tasted like Valentine's Day and immediately wrote a song about it, "Putting Holes in Happiness." "She is nothing less than a muse," he says.

Wood now lives with Manson, and they collaborated recently on a video for the single "Heart-Shaped Glasses." It's one of the first video's to use James Cameron's 3-D technology, and Manson was the star and director. It took four days to shoot. Cameron came to the set when Manson and Wood were filming a love scene and put himself in the director's chair. Manson tells me that Cameron said to him, "I'll worry about the sweet spot and you worry about the G-spot."

A few months before, when Manson was wildly depressed over losing Von Teese, Wood said that she would die for him, that they could die together. "It might sound strange," Manson says, "but this made me want to live." To me, it doesn't sound strange. I once attended a goth music festival in Illinois, and one of my chief impressions was that the goths are a very romantic people. To them, the dark costumes and the blood are imbued with romance and beauty-their apocalypse is someone else's rainbow, is what I'm trying to say.

So Manson, like the goths who follow him, is a romantic, and it's his most endearing quality.

Yes, quite romantic! :swoon: etc-love  Although, I sympathize with Von Teese position - wanting Manson off the drugs. They're killing him, obviously. He can kiss that brilliance goodbye, if he keeps this up. And this new young girl, may be star-struck with love, but she's only aiding his downfall, by accepting/participating in the self-destructive behavior. Such a shame, he's such a powerful artist...all that powder going up his nose will weaken his ability, ultimately. Sure, it might produce immediate euphoria to heighten creativity for the moment - but it will also shorten the lifespan, and make the statistical probability of death much higher than if he stayed away from the drugs. Pity.

Just remember that the things you put into your head are there forever, he said. You might want to think about that. / You forget some things, don't you? / Yes. You forget what you want to remember and you remember what you want to forget.

Do people like to act scandalized or offended?
Mmmm... Victorian Puritanism is acting in favour of a supposed, total innocence -in an asexual meaning, isn't it? Oh, yes, and it's done in pro of morality and decorum. emot-gonk

Maybe it's cultural. In Spain people is more used to express affection in public, I think.

But I admit that sometimes I don't know where to look, because of course I don't want to stare emot-redface

According to legend, someone in the crowd at a Twisted Sister concert actually threw shit at Dee Snyder. I mean shit as in feces. He was philosophical about it afterwards, wondering exactly where the shit came from. Did the person bring it with them? Or just shit in their hand?emot-confused

Artificial skin!

I know it's probably only new to me but it seems like they purffekted it, or close enough. I wish I got as excited about advances in medicine as I do in other things but all I can think of now is, "Who's going to milk this for every penny they can?"

Oh, and space porn. Not an article but that doesn't mean it doesn't make everything better.

I'm afraid that dolphins have also killed people by drowning - pushing them away from the shore, bumping them unconsious or dragging them under water. It's even less common than shark attacks, but it has happened. It seems it's a matter of individual dolphin's personality - some are just bullies.
