This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)

Re: The Satellite of Revolution... the Thumbnail Theater

I'm trying to recover the old Thumbnail Theater from archive.org, but about half the images are unavailable. Has anyone downloaded them before it dropped offline?

Re: The Satellite of Revolution... the Thumbnail Theater

I've got them on disc, and will have said disc in the mail within the month.  So, if nobody else can provide, for the sake of doing it right, and not having new images put in or matched from memory, I can provide/e-mail them wherever then.

Re: The Satellite of Revolution... the Thumbnail Theater

It has come to my attention that not everyone has seen Isako's coverage of Episode 18!  I think she wrote it after isako.org went down forever, but it's preserved on trinsan.com:

http://www.trinsan.com/isako/thumb/ttindex.htm

And since I'm thinking about UTT, I may have a go at Episode 21 soon!

Re: The Satellite of Revolution... the Thumbnail Theater

They are really great! I read the EP 20 one to my friend today, and she nearly died laughing. I loved the old ones so much, it's just awesome to see somebody picking up where she left off.

And you are hilarious. You do the Utena craziness justice.emot-biggrin

Re: The Satellite of Revolution... the Thumbnail Theater

The audience commentary was golden. emot-keke I've never heard a 'wibble' sound and yet I grok it fully. Also this probably wasn't deliberate but the whole 'You have no idea.' is reminding me of Jeremy Irons hardcore. (He says it in two different movies where he's incredibly creepy. Maybe he should play Anthy.)

Akio, you have nice turns of phrase, but your points aren't clear and you have no textual support. I can't give this a passing grade.

HE SHOULD!!!  Or at the very least, Anthy should sing karaoke "Be Prepared."

"Wibble" isn't mine, sadly emot-frown  I first heard it from a friend from the University of Chicago anime club.  It's the kind of word that sticks with you.  It can be a sound of terror or of wordless, weak-in-the-knees joy.

I'm glad you guys are enjoying my little contributions to the fandom emot-smile

OMG YES. And, um... yes, I'm embarrassed that Lion King is the first Jeremy Irons movie that I think of.

But The Man in the Iron Mask is the second!

Man, guys, episode 22 is hard!  It's all subtle psychological drama, none of this bitchy high school crap.  Much harder to make fun of.  emot-frown

I have the draft done.  Probably won't have time to punch it up and dump it on a webpage before work, but perhaps late this evening.  It's coming out pretty well!
