Thread Assassination Game?

I figured this might be fun in my gruesome sort of way.

All right, for anyone interested, here are the rules:

A thread counts as 'dead' if it has been 30 days without a reply.

If you are the last one to reply to the thread and the 30 days has passed, add one to your kill count.

Your kill count goes in your sig.

YES, you can check the old threads up until 30 days ago to get your starting kill count.

If you start spamming threads to sabotage someone else's kill count, I put you in The Coffin for a week (no posting).

I may or may not be considering a title change as a reward, I have to check with the other mods first. Rest assured, it will be only for something really impressive.

Ah, but how do you verify that when somebody starts spamming threads, they're only doing it because they have something to contribute and not just to spite somebody's kill count?

21, if I counted correctly. But one of them was the second Mafia game, that's got to be worth double points.

And 5 in the SKU section.

If there is relevant content in the post, it's not spam. If it's like 'LOL I LIEK DUCKS' I kill you.

Re: Thread Assassination Game?

Looks like someone was all talk...meaning me. Actually, it looks like people that make interesting posts threadkill a whooooole lot more than boring folks. And it's also true that I've killed a few threads more than once, but I'm not going to trouble to count them out. emot-tongue

Wow, I wholly overestimated the carnage I had wrought.

GD: 3
SKU: 2
RP: 1
IFD: 1

To be fair, though, I'm sure that quite a lot of threads that I would have claimed as kills were resurrected fairly recently. Apparently I just wound threads, and they eventually recuperate with proper rest and medical care. emot-tongue

Cool game, but a little help for the mathematically challenged please...
Does this mean we can't check old threads that are over 30 days old that we killed?
Meaning that we can only count threads that were new as of er roughly 8 October? emot-confused

And they have to be 30 days old at least to be dead. So the starting kill counts seem high to me. Do I not understand rightly?

Re: Thread Assassination Game?

It's from thirty days and earlier, not later. A thread last posted in on October 8th counts, but one last posted in on October 12th wouldn't (yet).

Other way around. You are supposed to be counting threads that haven't had a post in over 30 days, thus making them dead.

Which means as of right now, everyone should be counting any thread that hasn't had a post since October 11th, 2008.

In the binary code, this actually amounts up to five...

I think this speaks volumes about how insecure I am about a thread dying right after I post. The IDF one was the kind where nobody else posted but me! Ah! The horror! The horror! emot-aaa

Re: Thread Assassination Game?

Thanks for the help Raven & Ragnarok.

My killcount is 26. The grand majority of these are in SKU, but that's not surprising, for I post there the most. Considering I registered in August, I seem to have been killing threads as a matter of responsibility. I wonder if this disturbing trend will continue...

I think I might have resurrected some of these, heh. I must find your final "kill comments" interesting. Kudos to you I say.

EDIT: Question
What happens when you counted a post dead but then it gets resurrected? Does it stay in the count?

It stays in your count. It would be too much work to take them out, and it doesn't make a difference if you consider it as a new thread-- you still have the same chance to kill it.

With all due respect, I say any credit being handed out for killing the second mafia game goes squarely to me. <:

Kill Count: 7

And now I've developed a weird fascination with finding out exactly -what- I said to make people decide they were just going to slink away quietly. I think my favorite kill was in a figure skating thread where I proudly proclaimed that I always wanted to try roller derby. That and asking Epi if anyone in her country has ever died by choking on a grape.

Unfortunately. emot-mad I've been pretty busy these days and don't think I've posted outside of the politics thread since the beginning of the summer. That's probably why my kill count's so low.

Now the election's over and I'll be back to bothering the rest of the forum.
