Ohhh, that's where the wizard comes from.  I was going to say, I didn't think Hitler was a wizard, but maybe in the musical version.  Thank God; this answer is much less horrifying.

#33 A young police photographer impresses an extragovernmental agent by saving a woman from go go assassins, as an evil foreigner (from way way far away) kills someone, wears their skin, and pursues a remarkable treasure. Featuring ninja bubblegum bullet techniques, mind-wiping technologies, and a couple in a porno shoot being painted gold.

Er, I haven't started to try to figure these out yet, but I think they are actually #35 and #36 respectively?

Page 4 ends with #35, so I think they are #36 and #37. I've fixed mine.

On #36, half of it popped out; the other half I'm taking an informed guess based on Googling "ninja movies."  Men in Black Tight Killers?

Re: Movie Title Mashup Thread

Inspired by frakking Annie's Choice (that's going to haunt me now):

#38 Based on a classic poem, a Thugee sadist, aged and infirm, is at the mercy of British officers he abused in their childhood, and their Indian water-bearer, whom they now beat themselves, in a perverse cycle of violence. Notable for its sudden omissions and lack of anticipated closure to many key scenes and situations.

Re: Movie Title Mashup Thread

Well, I already knew the first one was going to be Gunga Din, but due to some lack of imagination on my part I'm still having trouble with the second one.  As an aid to others, Gunga Din is the 1939 film; it covers the classic poem, the Thuggee and British officers, and the Indian water-bearer.  It does not cover the sadism and abuse, the perverse cycle of violence, or the sudden omissions or anticlimax.

Re: Movie Title Mashup Thread

satyr's on the right track. Last clues: the Thugee is a Nazi, and the last word of one title merges with the first word of the second title to make it work.

(Weird footnote: Gunga Din does have, implicitly, sadism and violence: "Though I have beaten and flayed you, Gunga Din, you're a better man than I." But, yeah, it's explicit in the other movie.)

Re: Movie Title Mashup Thread

Annie Get Your Gunga Din.  Now see there's an Annie who you could put up against a Nazi.

No, but seriously, I dunno.  I've been through Wikipedia's complete list of films released in 1987 several times now, and there's nothing that's even close to working.  I give up!  But just to contribute something, let me add one to the hopper:

#39 A cult of devil-worshiping scientists contrives to help a dark power impregnate their neighbor so that they can kidnap the infant and use it to learn the meaning of life.  But her swearing, perverse child instead escapes and runs amok with animatronic robots.  The moral of the story is to be suspicious of strange pendants and skis on stairways, as both are likely to attack your reproductive organs.

And one more for good measure.  This one is not Ashnodian: one movie title is infixed within the other.

#40 Freshly escaped from jail and hard up for money, the protagonists undertake a long comedic road trip through the Jim Crow South to return to their home, only to find that it will soon be foreclosed if its present occupant can't pay her taxes.  The only way to raise the money, it seems, is to start a bluegrass/soul fusion band -- and hopefully win back the main character's wife's heart in the process.  This musical's sadly underacclaimed soundtrack includes such notable tunes as "Down to the River to Catch the Katy" and "Minnie the Man of Constant Sorrow."

Times up! Gunga Din a Glass Cage seemed more guessable to me than it turned out to be.

Rosemary's Baby Geniuses? (If it's not, why did you make me think of Baby Geniuses? But thanks for the other reminder; gonna put on that tonight.)

Wow, never heard of that one.  It was listed by its Spanish title on the lists I was consulting.  It sounds like a good movie to feel miserable with.  emot-mad

No problem!  This was an easy prompt to write; the only difference between the movies is that one of them was inspired by Satan, and the other is Rosemary's Baby.

Re: Movie Title Mashup Thread

satyr, if you get a chance to watch In A Glass Cage, you should. It's horrible, but in most beautiful and haunting (and getcherbrainworking) ways. That said, I could probably live happily without seeing it again.

#41 A popular singer is kidnapped by a man who can invade your dreams and her manager pays an ex-lover and an underdoggy Johnny Depp to get her back. Turns out, more than a decade before, parents in the city had killed the man for murdering children and now it's going to take all the shotguns, tough-talking, and duels with sledgehammers that can be managed to finally shut down this sweater and overalls-wearing nightmare.

#42 A man suffering a crisis of self after discovering his best friend is engaged in an affair, follows his sisters to their mother's magical hometown, where an ex boyfriend of their mother is mayor, everyone misses her, and there's gratuitous Goldie Hawn because who doesn't love Goldie Hawn? One of the worst box office failures in made for TV movie history.

I don't have the answer yet -- I suspect half of it of being Town & Country -- but I just wanted to say that my last made-for-TV movie did not make a single dollar at the box office. emot-frown
