Titles hierarchy in the forum

We have different 'titles' underneath our names depending on the number of posts we've done right? (though I assume right now it's little else than newbie/member + administrator/other custom titles"

Wouldn't it be cool to have some more specialized titles depending on the number of posts, for exemple :

1 to 10 - Nanami's Minion
11 to 25 - Shadow Girl
26 to 75 - Black Rose Duelist
76 to 150 - Student Council Member
151 to 300 - Rose Bride
301 to 500 - Prince
Beyond 500 - Custom Title

Okay, that's only an exemple. Is it possible to do something like that? It might be fun. Ignore me if you think this is rude or something emot-keke

Re: Titles hierarchy in the forum

I think this is a cute idea!  This is the first forum I've really been reasonably active on, so of course I am more in favor of the idea than I otherwise might be.  And I think our clientele won't be quite as likely to spampost in hopes of raising their title than the clientele of other forums I've seen.  I like "Transfer Student" better than "Nanami's Minion," though; that's just insulting emot-smile

If nothing else, I like the idea of custom titles for frequent contributors.  Or maybe for those who donate essays.  [Has already donated an essay school-devil]

Re: Titles hierarchy in the forum

At the moment I'm the only one with a custom title. I considered slipping one past Yasha, but she can undo it on me so it's no fun. I was going to put 'Seitokaichou' or something to that effect to really drive the point home. And I mean drive in the worst possible punny way.

I can definitely do custom ranks based on post count, although putting Rose Bride so high is kinda odd given how little Anthy speaks... I'll think about what to put there. As for custom titles, well...I have to decide what the requirements are. emot-wink

Akio, you have nice turns of phrase, but your points aren't clear and you have no textual support. I can't give this a passing grade.

Aww, who wouldn't want to be one of Nanami's Minion emot-tongue

Hmm essays *plans essays*

although putting Rose Bride so high is kinda odd given how little Anthy speaks

I was thinking of the Rose Brides of the third arc... which, errr, doesn't explain why it was so high. Errr. Exemple, as I said emot-keke

Re: Titles hierarchy in the forum

The Newbie title for the 1-9 posts and Member title for 10+ doesn't exactly have that Utena feel does it?

1-9 = New Student
But after 10 or more posts you should be able to choose from 2 themes:

School Council Theme (default)
10 - 49 = Duellist
50 - 99 = Champion Duellist
100 - 199 = The Engaged (Thats the correct title for whoever has the Rose Bride isn't it?)
200+ = Rose Prince

Black Rose Theme
10 - 49 = Black Rose Duellist
50 - 99 = Champion Duellist
100 - 199 = Seminar Host
200+ = Black Rose Prince

Shows how much you know! Roomie J has one too.

Anyway, the ranking system sounds cute... although it's stirring up ideas in my head, and I don't know if they're viable ones. It just seems like if we take the example Tamago said, we have to organize some kind of 'duel' between the normal members and the Black Rose Duellists...

That's be cool. This is the only forum I've ever joined, so...yeah...

Re: Titles hierarchy in the forum

I forgot _J_ because he's not important. emot-tongue

As for splitting the rank systems, I don't think I can do that. The regular ranks are based only on post count, you can't tell punBB to do two different things for people of the same post count, I'd have to make them custom titles, which is kinda ouch given there are a lot of members and it would break my brain to keep them recent as the post number climbs. I can definitely make a set of titles, though...

Re: Titles hierarchy in the forum

I do kind of like the idea of choosing allegiances (Mikage Seminar vs. Seitokai) and having duels, but if it's not technically feasible it's not technically feasible.  Plus I like Etrangere's ranks better -- sorry, Tamago emot-tongue

I agree the Rose Bride seems weird way up there.  She could be moved down to right above Nanami's Minion/Transfer Student.  But at the same time, I'm not sure she's in theme -- there's only one Rose Bride, whereas there could be arbitrarily many of the other ranks.  (I know the duelists take their own brides in the third season, but "The Rose Bride" is always Anthy, and I'm not sure I could get past that.)  Possibly replaceable with "Witch," which complements the Prince above her.  Or "Spinning Rose."

Re: Titles hierarchy in the forum

I don't know if this is possible for punbb, but some boards allow for different ranks based on gender.

If it is possible for punbb to recognize genders as having two different sets of ranks it makes sense you could replace gender with allegiance.

From experience the main thing ranks seem to accomplish is an increase in irrelevent posts to boost numbers. But, hey, they're nice to have.

I would admit that in other forums where you have different ranks depending on the number of posts, there are a lot more nonsensical posts there so it might be better not to have too many ranks then:

1 - 9 posts= Student
10 - 99 posts = Duellist
100+ posts = Champion

Oh hoho I would totally go for that!!!
Too bad it's not feasible...I think it would be something fun, anyway. Or, we could organize ourselves and have our own "duels" anyway.

That would be great. I do want to run some contests on here eventually... I have to think of something really, really good, though. I'm tired of the same old 'hey vote for a story' type things.

Well, a Champion Duellist, which just goes to show how much time I spend here, but that didn't really fit with the declaration.
