Utena inspired fashion/accessories/etc

I came across this on the internet randomly and figured you guys would appreciate it:

black rose pendant

school-devil

Anyone got any other Utena-esque jewelry/furniture/etc that they've run across?

Re: Utena inspired fashion/accessories/etc

...trying to locate connection cable for camera.

For now, I can describe. Hot Topics & Spencers are carrying a big plastic ring, which has a giant rose on top. It opens, and reveals lip-gloss inside. I just wiped it out, and super glued it shut. A relative bought me one last Christmas (cause it looks like the rings on those people on that show), but I saw them again recently whilst shopping.

Random people commented that it looks like a poison ring. I didn't know what that was. Apparently, back in the olden days, girl who traveled along in coaches & stuff, who had no protection, would carry around rings filled with poison, so if they were captured by a bad guy... they would be expected to serve him dinner or whatever, then they could dump their poison powder into the bad guy's glass.

Re: Utena inspired fashion/accessories/etc

"Poison ring" is actually a misnomer. Rings with "secret" compartments have been a popular fashion accessory for centuries. Typically, a lock of hair was what was carried inside, sometimes a tiny portrait. I used to have one, and a good friend of mine has several.  I know the rings you're talking about, tho, Frosty. I very nearly did the same thing. emot-keke

As for accessories....when I get home, I'll take a pic of a ring I bought the other day because it looks exactly like the rose gate to the dueling arena. I mean...I flipped. It was kinda' funny.

I love those things. Wish I could find a good one that actually fit my strange body proportions.

Utena greatly drew me to Dior and well tailored military suits.

Me too. My best friend (who also happens to be a raging Utena fan) bought a gorgeous one for me in Shiori-purple a couple of years ago--it's one of my top favorite clothing items. I wear it when I'm in an incompetant or weak mood because it makes me feel awfully princely.

Re: Utena inspired fashion/accessories/etc

My wife designed our wedding outfits with a seamstress, and I somehow didn't realize until we were at the store in Chinatown, picking out the silk that she was putting me in a black doublet and breeches with red trim and bronze buttons, and the doublet's hanging sleeves were lined in red.  (The dress my wife wore [which had something like 8 or 12 inset gores of pale green and the same pale green trim] was in the red that matched my trim and lining.)  The outfit looks surprisingly Utena-ish, in a Renaissance sort of way... (must find the one decent picture of me in it).

Re: Utena inspired fashion/accessories/etc

well Utena gave me the desire to wear the sleeves as bracelets like Anthy does with her rose bride outfit. When I learn to sew I will do some for myself emot-biggrin

Re: Utena inspired fashion/accessories/etc

I has me some black and white Anthy cuffs I wear alot... And I've drawn out a bunch of outfits to make... I'm just so freakin lazy though. X____x

I also have a dire need to make EVERYTHING smell like roses, but I've always done that, mainly because my senses are screwed up and roses smell nice. (dunno if it counts, but I *wear* the rose oil)

I'm more an Utena inspired interiors person... too bad no one I live with is.

Ah yes, allegoriest, I forgot to mention that I also am in possession of a wealth of rose-scented lotions and soaps and bath salts a-plenty.  I have an incredibly feminine aunt who delights in restocking my supplies every holiday; rose-scented drawer paper is my clothes' best friend.

This calls for new roommates.  IRG housing development, anyone?

This is a good idea. I've been rewatching the first arc, where there are more shots of the actual school and the architecture, and god damn do I love it. I actually like the look of the original school more than the way they did it for the movie, though the movie had really awesome set design. It just struck me less like a place I'd want to live.

Akio, you have nice turns of phrase, but your points aren't clear and you have no textual support. I can't give this a passing grade.

Re: Utena inspired fashion/accessories/etc

I agree.  The movie architecture is a joy to watch in motion, so to speak, but the series' buildings would seem to boast a much lower propensity for rendering its students completely lost.

There are so many good location shots in the Saturn game.  Too bad vectoring backgrounds is near-impossible; I'd love a wallpaper of the shot of the fencing studio.

^my Shiroi-colored (the color isn't totally accurate in the photo--it's a little more purple) "prince" jacket.

It looks sort of ill-fitting in the picture, but that's just because I was sitting really weirdly.

I'm thinking of the all white/all black ones that were a very nice sort of Victorian/military fusion.

Aww thanks guys. emot-biggrin

Speaking of my mouth (haha wow that sounds kinda weird emot-redface ) I bought Hello Kitty rose flavored lipgloss today...and it looks REALLY SKU, even with the giant cartoon cat head on the front. I'll see if I can post a photo later, it's really really cute. Sort of hot pink-red with these gold rose emblems all over it...and Hello Kitty has lil' roses stuck behind her ears...and it smells heavenly. They had Hello Kitty rose wallets, too, and I almost bought one of those too because it also reminded me of Utena...(which is the main reason I bought the lipgloss emot-keke)
