On the rare occassion when I do make popcorn myself, I always use some oil so the resulting popcorn has some flavour when it pops,  I find that popcorn that is popped without any oil or butter both feels and tastes like styrofoam to me.

Great, I just had to notice this thread when I'm completely out of poptarts. Thanks a lot, folks, now I want an apple-cinnamon poptart - and I don't know if they even make those any more.

Yeah, perky's a pretty good way to describe the taste, although it has a hint of pretty, too.

I bought them at a Wal-Mart about two months ago, and I hope they still have them, because I could use more!

As a side note, I couldn't bring myself to throw away the box, so now it's displayed proudly in my room, watching over my possessions like a obscenely cute guardian angel.

When I was a little kid, I put a loaf of bread in the microwave - which wouldn't have been so bad, but there was a twist tie (metal wire) on the package, which caught fire. Small one.

So you think I would have learned my lesson, but very recently I was reheating a roast beef sandwich from Arby's. How was I to know they wrap their sandwiches in foil-type paper. That microwave caught fire. Not to mention I was house sitting for a professor at the time.
