Gougai! Gougai!

Anime News Network asked Gio & Yasha to write an article about Utena, Empty Movement, and they totally called us superfans, omg. Think of it as a belated Valentine's to Utena, its fandom, and the excellent friendships we've made along the way. 20 Years of Utena Fandom with the Ultimate Superfans!!!

Re: New Utena stuff

I suppose this would be the most relevant thread as a 2014 figure is relatively new, Utena-wise. I just found and opened the Utena prize figure from SEGA, which I had bought a while ago, and the sword arm seems to have the cuff (and down) backwards, making attaching the sword pretty impossible. It looks different from other ones on MyFigureCollection. Is this even possible? It's a statue right? I can't seem to actually get it to move.

Re: New Utena stuff

I'm not sure exactly where to post this, but I'm guessing this is the best thread.

Upon browsing the S.H.Figuarts Facebook page, there was a recent post asking folks to give feedback for the Black Lady S.H.Figuarts. When translated via Google, it does ask which other Sailor Moon characters fans wants to be turned into figures (Sailor Starlights please! But … why no Sailor Galaxia?!). The form also asked what other series fans would love be part of the S.H.Figuarts family, and some of the options include Magic Knight Rayearth, Powerpuff Girls, The Rose of Versailles, and … Revolutionary Girl Utena.

Chu... (Just use Google to translate)

So if you own and love S.H.Figuarts and want poseable Utena, Anthy and Akio … give your feedback and vote.

More Utena figures are always welcome, right?

Re: New Utena stuff

Thanks for posting this!  Just provided feedback.  It would be so cool to have an SH Figurarts version of Utena and Anthy for sure (and the other duelists for that matter!)

I've loved the SM figures in this series. etc-love

Re: New Utena stuff

Also!  Apparently this month's anime LootCrate has a Utena bento box in it!  This made me squee so hard; I have wanted one for so so long!  emot-danceemot-danceemot-dance

It looks like you can sign up & get the current month's crate as long as the sign up happens by the end of the day today & that you can order some of the past month's crates individually, although I am seeing you can only order back to June at the moment.  So maybe you will be able to order the August box in a couple of months for $30?  I'm not sure since I don't have a subscription.

Just in case, here's the LootCrate link for the anime box:  Chu...

Or you can get just the bento box individually on Ebay; there are a few of them right now up for cheaper than the cost of getting subscription or buying an individual box.

Cheap no-one-trying-to-sell-you-shit protip: Go to the jewelry counter at a Marshalls or similar discounted goods outfit--they have ring sizers, and they'll ignore you while you sit there sticking your fingers in holes.

This is how I learned that despite my being a fatass lately, I'm still the smallest ring size generally available for what is uh, going to be the closest I get to wedding rings.

That said, it would be wise to size up a half to one size for the ring, because thick cut rings like this will fit much tighter than the size that will seem the most suitable on a ring sizer thingie with generically thinner bands.

Man, I want that hoodie, but it's so expensive and they likely don't do international shipping, either.

Re: New Utena stuff

To be honest, now that I'm looking at it, it doesn't look like it would be that hard to make! The patch would be the real challenge. Finding the hoodie would be easy enough, and then it's a matter of fabric matching.

Depends on how good you are at sewing, of course. If you're like me, by the time the jumper's finished you'll have wasted so much material on your fuckups that it's cost pretty much the same as the ready made one.

Same, the time and material cost of my attempts would be ridiculous. If someone knows where there's a match for cheap I'd love to hear it, though.

Re: New Utena stuff

I never buy figures (especially expensive ones like Figmas etc.) but I'll have to make an exception for this. It's not like anyone else's making Utena figures (I don't think SEGA's done anything with Utena in ages, emot-rofl).

Don't even think about it, Funko.

Are these things like super a big deal in Japan? Having no real content aside from a suggestion of a thing is like Nolan level hype. emot-biggrin

In the vein of clothing, there's going to be a blouse coming out soon, and I have to say I'm really tempted to get it.
