So, today....

Karl Malden, 97, from movies such as A Streetcar Named Desire, On the Waterfront, and TV series Streets of San Francisco.

Mollie Sugden, 86, better known to us as Mrs. Slocombe from Are You Being Served? Which is surprising because Wendy Richard, who played Miss Brahms, died a few months ago. Apparently, the only main actors still alive are Captain Peacock, Mr. Lucas, and Mr. Rumbold. (All three of them are on Last of the Summer Wine, so that may have something to do with it.)

Also, David Carradine's autopsy shows that he died from asphyxiation, but nothing to indicate suicide.

Goddamnit, Patrick Swayze. emot-frown You were so handsomely ridiculous. And a terrible drag queen. You shall be missed.

emot-frown  You kind of knew it was coming, but still...he was just sort of the adult hearthrob of the 80s and early 90s, so it's sad to hear.

emot-aaa You've never seen a Patrick Swayze movie?! OH, you poor deprived child!

Watch Dirty Dancing, first and foremost. Then watch To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar. And once you've gotten over seeing Wesley Snipes in drag, watch The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. No, Patrick Swayze's not in it, but you get Hugo Weaving instead.

I hadn't seen a Swayze flick in years, but this past spring I finally watched To Wong Fu.  LOVED IT.  Oh, it was crazy, silly, goofy, sappy...but it was fun!  As soon as I finished it I put Priscilla in my Netflix queue (although admittedly, it's still near the bottom.)

That one was rather shocking.  I'm curious to see what the police investigation might reveal.

In other news, Ayatollah Montazeri, well-respected Iranian cleric who was influential and a reformer, also passed away this weekend.

Yeah, you never expect it at such a young age... She didn't seem to be the troubled type.

Also, Roy Disney passed away a few days ago...

Brittany Murphy is also dead from a supposed heart attack. [At 32? :|]

Not to be rude or come over all ONTD or /b/-ish, but... I forget why she is/was famous. Honestly, I can't remember seeing anything with her in it.

I'm saddened by her passing away, she was Tai in Clueless one of my favorite movies ever, she was also in 8 mile, Sin City, Just Married, Spun, Drop Dead Gorgeous....and some other films. Just so sad and so random....and she was only 32? I wanted to watch Cluless today but I'll just be too sad.  emot-frown  emot-frown

Brittany Murphy was in "Clueless" with Alicia Silverstone.

She also had a small part in "Girl, Interrupted."

Re: Saparmurat Niyazov is dead: the notable deaths thread.

Yeah, Clueless was her biggest role; much as I hate to admit it, I love that movie. She was in a number of flop films and romantic comedies, but she did get some cool points for her role in Girl, Interrupted. She also voiced Luanne on King of the Hill, one of my biggest guilty pleasure shows.

Re: Saparmurat Niyazov is dead: the notable deaths thread.

King of the Hill is actually a pretty good show.

I have NO IDEA that Luanne's voice is by Brittany Murphy O_o
But, isn't Luanne a big role in the show? What happens now?

I thought King of the Hill already had its series finale?

But yes, the only one of her movies I've ever seen was Sin City, and I probably couldn't pick her out in the movie. [God, that sounds so rude, but it's true. emot-frown]

Nil, see Clueless.  It's probably my favorite movie of all time.

Hiraku, it's hard to tell it's her voice in KotH because the accent is so thick in that show, and for her character, that they might as well add subtitles.  Which does her a credit, that she can do that.

In the circle of stars dying young: Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan was found dead earlier today. He was 28 years old.

Never been a big fan of Avenged Sevenfold, but I have enjoyed a few songs; He was a truly talented musician. RIP.

Man, that's so sad! She cheered up everyone in that house - it always seemed so exciting for them (and us) when she'd come over! At least she was able to live a very long life. Yeah, RIP Beloved Miep!
