OMG, Eartha Kitt died.

Interesting fact: She didn't know her own birthday until 10 years ago.

Paradox and I both noted that as well.

*sigh* Colon cancer takes another victim.  My father died from it, my best friend's grandfather did, my m-i-l's boyfriend's just been diagnosed... emot-frown  I hate all cancer, but I'm particularly adverse to colon (as well as brain cancer--having a close friend die at the age of 10 from it was brutal.)

Ricardo Montalban is dead.

In his honor, let us join in a suitable mourning cry: KHAAAAAAAAN!

Not sure how I missed it, but Wendy Richard from Are You Being Served? died three weeks ago. Didn't know she was on EastEnders...probably because I've never watched it.

And, today, Natasha Richardson died in a skiing accident. I didn't know she was Vanessa Redgrave's daughter. I think I knew she was married to Liam Neeson, though.

Re: Saparmurat Niyazov is dead: the notable deaths thread.

Dave Arneson died the day before yesterday.

Who?  Yeah, that's okay, I didn't recognize his name either.  If you play Dungeons & Dragons you're familiar with his work; he and Gary Gygax co-created the game, but everyone remembers Gygax because his name is cooler.  Gygax, of course, died a little over a year ago, and now Arneson -- whose original work it was that D&D grew out of -- has joined him.  (Though I shouldn't say "joined him," because according to the D&D cosmology I expect they ended up in different afterlifes.)  God rest, Dave.

You know what, I'll bet Janet just locked him away in her tower. Someday, that special girl will free him and his powers of pop.

In all seriousness, though, I wish he could have had some sort of redemption with the public before he went. It feels like most of what people remember him for are the controversies.

Oh wow... people at the lab were talking about it. I was hoping that it was just some kind of Paparrazi hype. I didn't expect Mike to actually pull an Elvis.

Elvis died ~50 years old, too, right?

Did he? That'd be both the King of Rock and the Prince of Pop. Conspiracy?

Edit: Actually, no. Elvis died at age 42, I guess.

But, hey, both died from some kind of cardiac arrest.

I suppose someone wrote their name down?
